Okay, today was not officially the 1st day of Spring, but it felt like it.
My wife and I came back from the hospital after visiting her aunt. We picked up our daughter just before reaching home. My mother-in-law had arrived just before us.
The Sun was shining through a bright blue sky, the garden was green with a few flowers making an appearance and the big apricot tree had sprung to life with its own flowers emerging.
One of our cats, Picasso, came straight home and ran upstairs to eat.
We had tea and snacks on the garden table and our dog, Viva, lay on the grass contently.
Our other cat, Ginger, did not come home so my wife and I walked around the nearby streets.
About 5 minutes after we came home, Ginger returned with mouse in mouth. With us away for 2 days she had taken matters into her own hands – a true hunter.
Then I strapped on my squash gear and did my first set of hill sprints on a nearby inclined road. The night before I had done my first set of leg lifts and tricep dips.
This exercise is in response to now weighing the most I ever have in my life – 88kg. Like my 6-pack of old, I’m quite proud of my burgeoning tummy.
But not enough to keep it.
I’m going to be doing hill sprints 3 times a week. I’m curious how many weeks it will take to get down to 77kg.
And with Spring here outside activity will be more natural. As will be sitting in the sun with my family.
