This is my introvert’s journey from
A — to — B
A: Feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious & impatient from work, like a leaf blowing in the wind.
B: Regaining purpose and a simpler perspective with more freedom of time to focus on passions & interests.
Homeschooled until the age of eight, I’m now a reluctant school teacher of English as a 2nd language.
In my spare time I’m often found writing on my bed, by the fire or on a beanbag on the balcony, usually while sipping a cheap red wine and patting my ‘never satisfied with how much you’ve been patting me’ Labrador.
My wife, Ece, and step-daughter fill our home with love which means the two cats and aforementioned Labrador all live in harmony together, just like in the movies.
I was an elite-level junior squash player and am a longtime practitioner of Wing Chun kung fu, having lived and trained in Hong Kong for six years. I also enjoy stretching my muscles into inextricable postures for peace of mind.
Because I did start school after being homeschooled, I know school can be like a prison-sentence, unequivocally.
As well as my native English, I speak conversational Turkish and Portuguese. If I had to choose between them all, silence would win the day because I’m an introvert at heart.
If I start to feel overwhelmed, I take a big breath.
