My initial impetus for this blog was about spending time at home, in quietude.
Today I got a clear inclination of what else it means.
Family.
Not just a wife or husband, with or without kids.
Extended family.
One of my wife’s aunts had an operation today. Every member of the extended family who lives within an hour or two’s drive came to visit.
In the week leading up to the operation, on WhatsApp groups, there was an outpouring of positivity and support.
While I was sitting in the hospital one of the relatives asked about my family back home, specifically if I had siblings.
I said I did but that my brother died.
Now it’s just Mum and Dad (and a handful of aunts, uncles and cousins).
We all joked that with my wife’s family, it evens things out!
Tonight I am staying at her cousin’s house with her immediate family.
Having genuinely good people in your life who you can trust 100% is something some people just don’t have.
I feel grateful I do have so many wonderful people.
It makes taking a big breath that much more enjoyable.
