This is the 4th in a series of posts exploring various breathing techniques. All of them are momentary aids to relieve stress & tension, re-energize, re-focus and/or just feel good.
The 4th technique to explore is called 7/11 breathing.
Getting wrapped up in different breathing techniques can get us confused.
Primarily, our exhalation should be longer than our inhalation.
Enter the 7/11 breathing technique.
Here is how you do it, and it is as easy as it sounds:
- Breathe in for a count of 7.
- Then breathe out for a count of 11.
It doesn’t matter how fast or slow you count, just keep to this ratio.
Some suggest doing it for 10 minutes.
Try 10 seconds.
Then build from there.
Some suggest focusing on diaphragmatic breathing.
Just expand the rib-cage.
From there, you can expand your breath down or up.
Let your spine extend. Come back to the 7 counts in, 11 counts out.
Enjoy the act of breathing.
