Before my recent two-week holiday off work, my co-workers were asking what I had planned.
“I’m going to sit at home and stare at the wall.”
I was (kinda) joking.
Teaching kindergarten is tiring, energy-sapping work. Especially when you’re teaching English as a 2nd language.
You need to use bodily expressions more to help the kids understand.
Having breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea together, means there is constant noise and/or the potential for more noise.
As someone sensitive to excessive or unnecessary noise, this is especially difficult.
Squeezing in 5 or 10 minutes for a coffee-break is a flimsy notion.
Now I’m sitting at home, after a couple of hours of teaching squash lessons. It’s almost midnight. My wife is beautifully asleep on the couch. The only noise I can hear is the hum of the air-conditioner.
Peace. Contentment. Affection.
I’m not doing nothing. I’m un-doing.
