I’ve started learning to read music while playing the piano.
My step-daughter is a handful of months into regular lessons.
She got me started right from the beginning a week or two ago.
Listening to her practice is very relaxing.
It is simple playing.
If she makes a mistake and keeps going, it is beautiful.
Whether writing, reading, resting, whatever – I could listen all day.
It is a welcome surprise to find that playing the piano myself is just as relaxing.
If I weren’t following her step-by-step path, I would not have the patience to practice 5-20 minutes every day. Nor would it be as enjoyable to make mistakes and keep playing slowly.
I’m riding her coattails!
Fortunately, she likes that I am practicing too.
